The Museum of Performing
Arts, inaugurated on
December 23, 2009, is Korea’s
first performing arts museum.
It aims to collect, preserve,
and display materials relating
to the performing arts,
thereby recording the history
of the temporal and intangible
art form that only exists while
being performed on the stage.

공연예술박물관에서는 관람객의 이용 편의를
위하여 전시해설을 진행하고 있습니다. 전시해설은
사전예약제로 운영되고 있으며, 공연예술박물관
홈페이지를 통해 예약 가능합니다.
The Museum of Performing Arts provides docent
tours on a reservation basis. You can make online
reservations at the museum website.

공연예술사 전시 공간에서는 개화기에서
현대까지의 한국 공연예술사를 시대별로
살펴볼 수 있습니다. 또한 구역별로 설치된
키오스크를 이용해 자세한 전시내용을 알아
볼 수 있습니다.
“Exhibition: History of the Performing Arts”
showcases the history of Korean performing
arts from the late nineteenth century through
the present day by historical period. The ki-
osks instal ed in each section provide more
detailed information about the exhibition.
상설전시실은 우리나라 공연예술의 역사적 흐름을 볼 수 있는 ‘공연예술사
전시’ 공간과 공연이 무대에 오르기까지의 과정을 특징별로 전시한
‘공연주제 전시’ 공간으로 구성되어 있습니다.
The Permanent Exhibition Room is divided into two sections: “Exhibition:
History of the Performing Arts” and “Thematic Exhibition of the Performing
Arts.” “Exhibition: History of the Performing Arts” chronologically presents the
history of Korean performing arts. “Thematic Exhibition of the Performing Arts”
showcases the process of producing a performance step by step.

예술인의 방
Room of Artists
‘예술인의 방’은 실제 유품을 활용한 연극의 방,
음악의 방, 무용의 방으로 구성되어 각 장르의
특성을 드러내면서 창작공간의 분위기를 연출
하였습니다.
Room of Artists is divided into three sections
– Room of Theater, Room of Music, and Room
of Dance, each showing the unique features of
each genre. Each section has been designed
like an artist’s workspace, in which the actual
belongings of deceased artists are on display.

Room of Theater
공연주제 전시 공간은 ‘예술인의 방’, ‘무대
의상’, ‘무대 뒤 이야기’ 등으로 구성되어 있어
공연제작과정을 경험할 수 있습니다.
“Thematic Exhibition of the Performing
Arts” is divided into three sections – Room
of Artists, Behind the Stage, and Stage Cos-
tumes, al owing visitors to see and experience
the process of producing a performance.

Performing Arts: the Root
공연예술사 연표를 통해 고대부터 현재까지의
우리나라와 세계 공연예술사의 흐름을 살펴볼
수 있고, 궁중과 민간 전통공연예술의 옛 모습
을 애니메이션 영상으로 확인할 수 있습니다.
The first section includes a chronological table
offering information on the important events
in the history of Korean and world performing
arts. It also includes an animated video showing
examples of traditional performing arts that had
been presented at the royal court or in public.

Performing Arts: the Bloom
개화기부터 근대까지 한국 공연예술이 급격히
변화한 모습을 살펴볼 수 있습니다.
The second section includes materials showing
how Korean performing arts had drastically
changed in the late nineteenth through early
twentieth century.

Performing Arts: the Forest
1950년 국립극장의 개관으로부터 6.25 전쟁
전후하여 현재에 이르기까지 한국 공연예술의
역사를 알아볼 수 있는 공간입니다.
The third section presents information on Ko-
rean performing arts from 1950, the year when
the National Theater of Korea was inaugurated,
through the time around the Korean War up to
the present day.

Stage Costumes
공연에 사용된 의상들을 직접 볼 수 있는 코너로
〈태〉, 〈귀족놀이〉, 〈브리타니쿠스〉, 〈공민왕
비사, 파몽기〉의 무대의상이 전시되어 있습니다.
“Stage Costumes” exhibits costumes worn by
the actors in various performances, including
〈Life Cord〉, 〈The Bourgeois Gentleman〉, 〈Bri-
tannicus〉, and 〈A Secret History of King GONG-
MIN, PAMONGGI〉.
무대 뒤 이야기
Behind the Stage
무대 뒤 이야기 코너는 세밀하게 제작된 무대
모형, 무대디자인과 공연에 사용되었던 각종 무대
소품이 전시되어 있습니다.
“Behind the Stage” exhibits detailed, realistic
set design models, design sketches, and vari-
ous props used in performances.

별별실감극장
Immersive Studio ‘ByeolByeol’
별별실감극장은 기존의 별오름극장을 개조하여 새롭게 조성
되었습니다. 공연예술 장르와 최신기술이 접목된 영상콘텐츠를
감상할 수 있으며, 공연예술박물관 로비와 상설전시실에서는
증강현실 기술을 적용하여 공연의 주인공이 되어보는 무빙포스터,
무대의상 및 분장, VR 백스테이지 투어 등 다양한 체험을 즐길
수 있습니다.
The former Byeoloreum Studio, located on the first floor in the
Museum of Performing Arts, had been renovated and reopened
with a new name of Immersive Studio ‘ByeolByeol’. On the oth-
er hand, in the first floor lobby of the Museum of Performing
Arts, visitors can enjoy diverse augmented reality experiences,
such as moving poster experience and costume/make up “try
on” experience.
